A Thought on our New President

If, like me, you're not a fan of Obama, keep this in mind:

America is a Democratic Republic. We have the amazing liberty to vote on our officials - many of the world's population is not so lucky. This does leave open the risk of electing a crooked official, but Monarchies, Aristocracies, and Dictatorships carry risks of being led by crooked men and women. The benefit of a Democratic Republic is that, unlike these other forms of government, the time anyone spends in office is restricted.

Also, keep remembering this:

"Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes." James 4:14 (NIV) If our entire lives are just vapors, how short will four or eight years for a presidency be?
"The king's heart is in the hand of the LORD; he directs it like a watercourse wherever he pleases." Proverbs 21:1 (NIV) Whether we believe this to be God's will or not - whether we believe Obama is a servant of God or not - God is still in control. Nothing on earth could happen that would be so devastating God can't handle it, and even use it for His glory.

I know many people who believe judgement is going to fall on America because we've elected Obama. As unhappy with the election outcome as I am, Obama is still a man. I don't believe that currently he serves the true God, nor that he was the best man for the job. However, the people have spoken and he is now my president. I must pay him the respect that his office deserves. I also have an obligation, as a servant of God, to pray for my president. God has caused murderers to be great leaders (Moses) and con artists to be great patriarchs (Jacob). He has even turned an adulterer into a king (David) which provided the line of Christ. How dare we say God can't use Obama. With God all things are possible, and the prayers of the righteous availeth much. Let's join, as a global church, and pray for America's leadership - that God would be active in the Oval Office and that His will, not man's will, would be done.

Judgement on America would be for becoming, as a collective people, so anti-Christ. We can't pin that on one election. Rebellion, pride, sin - gotta go. But no one, it seems, and least of all the Christian right, is willing to tie a towel around its' waist, get on its' knees and humbly wash the feet of the lesser.

Glad I am just an alien passing through. This world is not my home! :)
